Scottsdale
Exuding much of its historical heritage, the city of Scottsdale has been dubbed as "The West's Most Western Town." It's blessed with over 300 days of sunshine in a year, a wonderful collection of prime real estate property picks, and a wide variety of outdoor opportunities. It's of no surprise that this desert city draws in people from other states to settle and grow here.
Scottsdale is also conveniently situated near the cities and towns of Phoenix, Paradise Valley, and Carefree. This ease of access gives residents an even wider range of opportunities for work, play, and living.
History of Scottsdale
Scottsdale's history started when U.S. Army Chaplain Winfield Scott visited the Salt River Valley in the mid-1880s. Soon after Scott brought in his family and relocated to the area. He and his brothers originally called the town Orangedale after the huge citrus groves that they planted. It was only in 1894 when the name was changed to Scottsdale.
Following the addition of a public school system, a post office, and a general store, the town grew and developed. Scottsdale only had 2,000 residents after World War 2 but since then, the population grew. Today, more than 249,000 people live here.
